As far as I have read (and several people above have already mentioned that), – it is mostly a biological/evolutionary protection that has evolved through time that sibling do not involve in sexual relationships, because of the probability of mutations and other unfavorable effects on offsprings.

As a psychological thing, I have never experienced such an affection towards my brother (but he is also several years younger). I guess, in a family it is a difficult issue to deal with, because it is so unusual and not socially accepted. And we humans are often very rigid about what we accept (because that is what we know and we are used to) and what we don’t. But as an outsider, when I hear a story about two siblings loving each other (etc.), – well, I don’t judge them and I don’t feel any kind of disgust. It is rather rare to find a person you are mutually attracted with, – and it’s great happiness. But they are just unlucky that it turned to be their sibling.

It’s great that you start such a discussion. The more we hear about “unusual” things, talk about them – the more flexible we might become in our judgments!

I think there’s a natural protection built in to people to stop this happening. I had a beautiful sister and daughters but never felt anything sexual towards them, none of my doing it was just like that (still is in regard to my daughters). Why some people push the boundaries I don’t know, but it happens.

I think the biggest reason it became taboo at some point would be because of children. Obviously sharing the same genes would make for some serious mutations in the family tree and they realized at one point or another the family wouldn’t be able to carry on.

I have a sister but never thought of her in that way too gross.

We are not in the position to judge but in the eyes of God, even though it’s modern age God to me still exist..and in the eyes of people it’s wrong..wrong…wrong, but i am not there to judge them — just my thought.

I have 3 sons and a daughter and i’d be horrified if something like that happened. It seems to me that there’s likely alot more to this story such as molestation and a much less than healthy family life. If nothing else they at least need counseling. I truly hope they do that much for their own mental health’s sake. Then if they determine there’s no underlying causes but true affection, then i guess it’s not for anyone else to judge.
