What am I doing blogging when I have a presentation tomorrow? A presentation for which I am not half done with the Powerpoint. And the software itself is, like, 20% done. OMG. I am gonna hafta code an entire program for presentation in 12 hours! Ekkk! Why???
Right. It’s in the title, after all. The truth is I’m a fast programmer. Fast as I am in many things, like writing, thinking (sometimes my mouth doesn’t catch up and I spit halfwords, do you do that?), walking, working… Yes. Fast, that is, when I start. The real problem is when I don’t. Because that takes a very, very long time.
Like scheduling for my thesis defense. I was supposed to deliver my software demo two weeks after my first defense (my panelists wouldn’t sign the approval sheet unless I showed them concrete proof my proposal would work). Do you know what I did?? I went on a vacation.
Yes, I am ashamed to say. I took my monthlong vacation and forgot all about my thesis defense. (And my one lone class in Software Engineering too.) And what did I do upon coming back to Manila? Dallied for three weeks before I finally hauled my rusty braincells to their virtual (mental?) office. One week later, I demoed.
Yes, it was a disaster. I wonder if they could tell I wrote the software in less than a week? I think they did, based on their disappointed faces. Sigh. The good news is that I finally got the written approval, even with their obvious personal disapproval. (Promise, I’ll do better on the real thing. I’ll code for a whole TWO weeks!)
I celebrated my tainted approval with a McDonalds take-out. I know, I’m such a cheapo. But I’m saving for my sembreak vacation on October 5. I’m going snorkeling (bought the masks and snorkels!) and swimming (bought the skimpy (no, not really) swimsuits!).
Mm hmm, it’s time for a whole new month of procrastination.

Procrastination is the middle name of almost every programmer. It’s happened thrice with me,kept putting off my assignments upto a couple of days to deadline, everytime I went and submitted a real shoddy code, which, got approvedtwice, but third time was sure as hell not remotely close to lucky

Varun, so it’s not only me? Haha. I was starting to think I was in the wrong profession ‘coz I seem to hate programming, haha. I only like the end result.
Gim, right. Erm, dare I ask?
Noel, hmm… how do you like your Chocolate Hills, green or brown? Hahaha. It’s brown when tag-araw (jan-may), green when tag-ulan (june-dec). But seriously, I would say keep away during the rainy months. You’ll enjoy the sightseeing and the diving/snorkeling more when the weather’s clear.
