Miss World finalist Mariana Bridi da Costa is critically ill, after contracting a urinary disease that has forced doctors to amputate her limbs.
Da Costa’s boyfriend, Thiago Simoes, said that Mariana first fell ill on December 30. She was taken to a hospital was was misdiagnosed with kidney stones. Two days later, her symptoms got worse, losing blood circulation to her limbs.
It turns out she had a very serious infection caused by bacteria known as pseudomonas aeruginosa. She is currently in a hospital in Serra and is hooked up to a ventilation machine.
Mariana Bridi da Costa was twice a Miss World finalist. Last year, she was in China for the Miss Bikini International pageant. She is only 20 years old.
