I’m real productive these days. On playing games anyway. Heh.

I’ve just unstuck myself off of World of Goo. But for the uninitiated, it’s the best kind of game to get stuck on. I recommend it 10 stars out of five.

Goo balls are trying to reach the top of the world, building walls and ladders, to see what’s up there, getting sucked through all the random pipes in World of Goo and *you* are their hero! You have to help the goo balls succeed! You must try!

The game is so good. The graphics are truly flawless. The story is witty, funny and original. Original for a game anyway. The story of the goo balls reminds me a lot of  the short story Hope for the Flowers by Trina Paulus. (It’s about caterpillars stepping on each other and making caterpillar buildings, in order to reach the top.)

There’s not a boring moment in the game (though, lots of frustrating bridge-breaking-AGAIN?!? moments) and the little hints and tips from the Sign Painter and MOM actually make me laugh out loud.

The best part though, is the music. It sounds like an orchestra. My sister said it reminded her of war movies. Maybe she meant Pearl Harbor. To me, it sounded more like Titanic (as in My Heart Will Go On). Whatever it sounds like, it certainly adds a lot of emotional investment to the game. It make you want to help the goo balls all the more! You really are their hero.

Go get it and play your little heart out!

These days I’m playing a new game called Be Rich. It’s about Wilmington NC real estate or something like that.

I start by building small bungalows and duplexes, building my way up to mansions and chateaus. It’s a mite boring, but for the lack of anything better to do…

I’m looking forward to playing Youda Farmer and Unwell Mel. I just recently downloaded these two, maybe of them turns out to be good.

Oh, but World of Goo has totally spoiled me now. 2DBoy, get working on a brilliant new game, stat!
