A Grave Subject

Posted on 07 April 2009 by Flisha

So many celebrities dying from or getting cancer in the news lately, it’s terrifying. Most recently it’s been original angel Farah Fawcett (as in Charlie’s Angels) whose cancer has supposedly infected her liver. Several weeks ago Jane Goody (Big Brother participant) died from the disease. Patrick Swayze of Dirty Dancing fame (one of my most favorite movies of all time) is reportedly battling cancer too.

Even Filipino rapper Francis Magalona (best known for his song Kaleidoscope) got hit with the dreaded disease.

It seems inevitable. So many decades of research and we still haven’t found a cure. Best to stay away from anything carcinogenic. But sometimes you don’t even have to ingest anything to get cancer. For example, if you live in Russia, China, Kazakhstan or Canada, you may be exposed to asbestos and may possibly get Mesothelioma.

And it’s not so easy to stay away from carcinogens either. I happen to love grilled food. :(

Kind thoughts and prayers go out to anyone who is afflicted with cancer.

P.S. My grandmother and my father died of cancer. Am scared that it’s in my future…

It’s hard to watch people go through cancer treatment; watch them change. My grandpa had cancer, it’s actually what he died from almost seven years ago this July.
