The Tide Turns at Entrecard

Posted on 26 July 2009 by Flisha

Wow. The reign of Graham Langdom over at Entrecard has finally come to a close. Entrecard has been sold to ZipRunner Inc, and a woman named Cindy is now writing the blogs.

Entrecard’s been a train wreck the past few months (or has it been a year already?), a lot of it having to do with Graham’s overall mismanagement of the service. Abusing and banning members, introducing paid ads, employing shady admins, inconsistent implementations… it was really too bad. Entrecard was so well-loved in the beginning. And then suddenly, because of Graham’s all-too-many bad decisions, everyone who mattered left, and the fun community that was the main reason people flocked to Entrecard was lost.

I don’t know, if, now that there is new management behind Entrecard, whether people will come back. Paid ads (along with cashouts) are being removed from the system, which is a good start. But I truly hope Entrecard’s new owners have invested in some kind of business insurance, because as long as Graham Langdon is still with Entrecard even in a tiny way, people will hesitate to support the system.

Frankly, I think it would be easy to make an Entrecard clone. I wonder why it hasn’t been done yet. Oh, CMF Ads sure tried. But it’s more like Project Wonderful than Entrecard, really. (It’s a good venture, though, and the sense of community sure is familiar.) I would love to move away from Entrecard and try another service just like it, but without all the craziness.

Any suggestions?

Hello Kitty Online Philippines Registration

Posted on 18 July 2009 by Flisha

Hello Kitty Online is now open for pre-registration in the Philippines, says the HKO website.

There is going to be a Founders’ Beta to be launched by Level Up! Games (publisher of the MMORPG games in the Philippines).

Hello Kitty Online remains to be the cutest MMORPG ever, and I will always be a fan. I’m registering to play HKO Philippines right now, because I want to play HKO however and whenever I can!

Still, I am very proud of my accomplishments in the HKO international version. I founded a guild called Vampire Kittens and I love my guildmates, they are all so great! I don’t want to lose my guild or my house or my farm or all my accessories in HKO so I really really really hope that Hello Kitty won’t retire the HKO international client but will still let us play from our country portals OR from the international portal. I sure will choose to play both! Hahaha!

Anyway, if you are a Hello Kitty fan like me, you can register for HKO Philippines here. And if you don’t know what Hello Kitty Online is yet, then watch the Hello Kitty Online trailer below.

Trust me, this is one MMORPG you are NOT going to regret playing! :)

Blogger Comment Preview Cuts Off Word Verification Box

Posted on 11 July 2009 by Flisha

Stumbled upon a new Blogger issue today. I’d rolled out a few posts and my friend Heidee wanted to post a comment. Alas, she could not, because she could not find the word verification input box.

Here is the screenshot she sent:

As you can see, the verification word is visible but the rest of the comment box seems cut off.

I tried to duplicate her issue, but since I was logged in to Blogger, I was not asked for word verification. I logged out and tried commenting on my own blog, and was able to duplicate her issue on Firefox and IE. (My friend tried it in Safari as well and it’s broken as well.)

The cause of the issue is all too clear. Blogger is now showing a preview comment before the verification box, where before it was not. It seems that whomever approved this change did not test it out on the embedded-below-post comment forms, or failed to consider to increase the height of the pop-up word verification form, so that the input field is now inaccessible.

I thought to scour the web for a quick fix, but the issue seems fairly new. I found posts documenting the issue on Blogger Help here and here, logged July 10, 2009. So I doubt there’s already a fix. And since this is a Blogger issue, editing my template won’t help.

For now, I have disabled word verification on my comments. It makes me vulnerable to spam, but I have no other choice. If I revert to the default pop-up window comment form placement, my template might get messed up because I edited it before to get the embedded comment form to work.

For others encountering the same issue, you can do what I did, disable word verification. And if your blog is inundated with spam, then turn on comment moderation. The alternative is to switch from embedded comment form placement to full-page or pop-up comment form placement.

Hopefully Blogger fixes this issue fast.

P.S. Thanks for the heads up, Heids!

Twitterpated over Twitter

Posted on 11 July 2009 by Flisha

“Why, don’t you know? They’re twitterpated.” whispered the owl.

My Twitter page looks so glum. It’s just one of the default Twitter backgrounds. My page looks so boring that even a couple of area rugs would spice it up.

My friends Jotie and Heidee haven’t been on Twitter that long but they’ve already updated their backgrounds!

And here I thought I was the twitterpated one! Hahaha. Wanna know what that means? Learn with Bambi!

Here’s a clip of when Bambi learns what twitterpated means. And if you don’t know, it means confused by affection or infatuation.

And we all know, Bambi got all twitterpated over Faline anyways. :) Here’s a cute mix I found on Youtube. Cheesy? Hahah. Oh but I love Bambi! :)

Anyway, back to Twitter. I am so glad I am starting to see friends on Twitter! I see Heidee, I see Chu. I see Raul, I see Jotie. And of course, don’t forget to follow me too! :)

Silver Earrings

Posted on 11 July 2009 by Flisha

Sterling silver jewelry is as beautiful as any other precious metal and comes with an additional benefit of affordable prices. Truth.

Don’t these earrings look pretty?

I love earrings, especially silver earrings. I lust after them all the time.

Except I can’t wear them.

It’s not that I am afraid of getting my ears pierced. In fact, I’ve gotten them pierced twice! You can still see the scars on my ears from where the holes have healed.

It’s just that I am allergic. I remember the time I got them pierced. I was in elementary, it was summer. I went over to play with a cousin at her house, and ended up lying with my ear pressed against the wooden floor, and my aunt sewing a thread through my earlobe.

I remember she placed rubbing alcohol all over the needle, the thread, her hands, the floor, and my ears. But my ear still got infected. Pus all over my earlobes for the next two weeks (good thing I didn’t have any classes to go to!) until I finally decided to remove the thread from my ears. The holes closed and I never got to wear earrings.

Another time I got my ears pierced was in a doctor’s clinic with a gun and hypoallergenic stud earrings. Same thing happened, I think. That was enough for me, then. I didn’t try again.

It’s weird because I never get rashes from wearing copper rings (the ones you get free inside junk food bags), or plastic bracelets, or even old, probably moldy heart pendant jewelry pieces. Because I love accessories. And I have a lot of them, I keep all the stuff I get and take them out from time to time for wearing. I even have earrings that people who don’t know I can’t wear them have given me, but I’ve never thrown away, because I still harbor the old hope that someday I can gather up the courage to get my ears pierced once again and suddenly, miraculously I can wear earrings without injury!

I was passing by a jewelry store the other day and I saw some really awesome silver drop earrings. I lusted so. I wonder if the time is right for another ear-piercing experiment…?
