November 20, 2009.
The day that teen (and tween) girls around the world have been waiting for. This day will go down in the annals of history as New Moon Day (the day after New Moon Opening Night). On this day, fans of the Twilight saga flocked to theaters to see the film adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s New Moon, the second installment of the Twilight series (and to see Jacob Black lose belly fat and find six-packs instead).
Weathering poor reviews from critics, the movie actually did quite well on opening day, surpassing even Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith in ticket sales. This despite reviews like this one where the author describes the movie as “uneven, frustratingly bland and often risible” and “Significantly more stilted, cloying and nodescript [sic] than its predecessor, Moon stares full-on into the flat, gray abyss of teenage gothic longing and sexual repression…”
This just proves that not even bad acting could faze the cult created by the Twilight series. Or maybe they all just came to see Taylor Lautner and his ripped bod.
