Manila City Hall employee Fritz Floirendo was arrested last week for uploading intimate photos on Facebook of him and his ex-gf having sex. Everyone now, “Ewww!”
Poor girl. She’s reportedly just 20 years old. The main motivation seemed to be a quarrel between the guy and the ex-gf’s friend. Dunno the specifics, but that’s what’s floating in the news.
Fritz Floirendo’s Facebook account is now deleted. But Fritz Floirendo’s Multiply account is still up if you want to see how he looks, for curiosity’s sake.
Looks like a douchebag. He is denying that he uploaded the photos and is even accusing the ex-gf of doing it, saying she’s got access to his account. Let him try to prove that then.
Tsk, tsk!

Owww my heel hurts from walking in my Skechers Shape-Ups. Gotta find some comfy orthaheel here to ease up on my soles.
Gim and I had an interesting night. He came home early (6pm instead of the usual 9 or 10pm) and since he was feeling tired and groggy from the flu, I fed him some Tocino (something like sweet ham) and then let him get some bed rest. Five hours later, he woke up hungry but well rested. I let him eat the Mcdonalds burger I had ordered while he was sleeping.
After that, he was itching to go out and watch a movie. Confession here: I am not a movie buff. In fact, I pretty much hate to sit in a theater for two hours (or worse!) watching a movie. Not that movies aren’t entertaining for me. I just don’t like having to sit there and have nothing else to do but look at the screen for such a length of time. I have a short attention span. I like getting distracted in the middle of things and shifting from one thing to the next. Blame it on the Internet?
Anyway, so I suggested why not just have a walk around? Better yet, jog! We live in Makati, there are lots of parks around. Plus, the weather is really wonderful these days. It’s cool and perfect for outdoor activities. :) This was 11 pm and he agreed! Hahah!
So we went out and found an empty parking lot nearby and did some stretching, some kicking, some running, and a lot of walking. It was lots of fun and now we’re thinking rollerblading, bicycling, rope skipping! Hope the weather holds. Summer, don’t you come too soon! :)

I really need to buy new rechargeable batteries. Or better yet, a new camera that doesn’t need them!
This is the best Proboscis monkey photo I have from my Kota Kinabalu trip.
The tour guide picked us up at about 1 in the afternoon for the tour. We traveled around 2 hours to reach the river where the monkeys live. We got to the destination about 4 in the afternoon and boarded a small boat and from there we quietly sailed by the river banks where the mangrove trees grew.
Proboscis monkeys are unique in that they are vegetarian. They only eat the mangrove leaves. Feed them meat or even a banana and they die. They have stomach chambers which break up the poison of the mangrove leaves and allow them to digest the edible stuff.
Here is how they really look like, up close. We couldn’t get up close since the river was full of crocodiles, so we had to stay in the boat.
My travel tip: bring binoculars! Good thing our guide brought a pair of binoculars, and we got to borrow them to see the monkeys clearly. None of the guests brought any!

Today, Gim and I are going on a tour of Mt Kinabalu. We’ll be looking at fireflies and proboscis monkeys. (No marmots though.)
The proboscis monkey has a bit fat nose! Gim is pretty excited to see those! :)
But me, I have never in my life seen fireflies. And to me they are like magical creatures that appear in fairy tales. So I am SOOO excited to see them!! :) I hope I can capture them in my camera so I can show you another time. :)
We are in Kota Kinabalu right now. Mt Kinabalu is one of the major sights here. However we are not going to do a trek up the mountain, we will just be at the base, or at Mt Kinabalu park.
We will also have a sunset cruise with dinner. Total package for the tour is 195 RM per person or about 2600 Php. Kinda steep but hey, we are on vacation. :)
So, very excited for later!! :)

I ate at Bubba Gump some time ago and really liked their grilled baby back ribs. I live in a condo so I can’t grill but I wish I could and I’d buy maybe saber grills and cook some barbecue in our balcony.
But there are all sorts of rules to living in a condo. Like you can’t use the balcony for laundry, or as a kitchen, or storage. Basically all you can do there is stand and look out over the city. What a waste of space, I think.
In the meantime if I want to eat grilled food, there is always restaurants around Makati. Another favorite is Friday’s. Gerry’s too. I love grilled! :)

Doesn’t this look like a place you could just relax and puff famous cigars on?
Right now, I’m relaxing at a room in The Palace Hotel in Kota Kinabalu. It’s a tiny hotel located on a hill, but just near to the city and the shopping malls. Though if you spoke to the people around here, they would say this place is quite far from the city and inaccessible as you have to call a taxi to get to the major shopping malls. But the next shopping mall is a 5 minute walk from the hotel! I don’t need a taxi for ride that is maybe a minute and a half. Hahaha! Maybe because KK is really small, so people think this is far already. But in Metro Manila, a 5 minute walk is already very near!
Anyway, the location is pretty good. Our first room was in the basement, the “standard room”. Don’t book this room. It’s old and dirty and smells musty, and the wifi doesn’t reach the basement, plus no windows. The staff told me that the hotel doesn’t even book those rooms but Agoda pressured them so that the hotel could be “priced competitively”. Well I feel we were duped. We reluctantly upgraded to a “superior room” which is basically just the same but cleaner and has wifi, for an additional 175 RM.
Anyway I will tell you more in the next few days!

So, Janine Tugonon came up to runner up in the recently concluded Ms Universe pageant. Good for her. For those who lost, they can get pageant trophies from awardsforanything.com! Hahaha!
I actually haven’t watched the show. I just read what happened because it seems like it’s all over the news. Just yesterday, the headline of Inquirer was something along the lines of ‘Janine comes home’. Wow! And ABS CBN put up a photo of Janine’s boyfriend in Facebook and people were commenting on how plain-looking he was (and I am being generous in my description of the comments). Funny what qualifies as news these days.

Divisoria probably has the best variety of bulk pedometers but after I heard of the fire that razed about 2 million’s worth of goods yesterday, I am pretty scared to go there! To be fair, it was the firecrackers that set off the fire, so maybe it was extra dangerous to go there around this time.
I do have a lot of items I need to look for in that part of the country, I think I mentioned in a previous post. I was planning to go this January, when there’s less people. Good decision, given the current scenario. But a better decision would be to delay it further. Maybe I will go there in February, on a weekday, and on a morning, just to make sure the crowd is at its thinnest. I may no longer catch the sales but better safe than sorry!

So I got a weird text from my boyfriend last night. Said he wanted me to learn the guitar. Hm. I can’t even tell the difference between a pedal board and a sewing pedal (hey, pedals, they’re all the same to me!). How the heck will I manage to learn a musical instrument?
It’s not as if I have never thought of it. In fact when I was in high school my dad bought me my own guitar and I took summer lessons. I got as far as learning all the different chords and how to strum. But I couldn’t seem to remember the chords fast enough to play a song seamlessly. And I realized I didn’t have a musical ear. I couldn’t tell if my guitar was already out of tune or not! Haha! That summer ended with me having stubby bandaged fingers and corn/scabs for months. Yeah. It was not pretty. Hahaha!
After high school I gave my guitar to a friend. :)
So what did I tell my bf? I told him to think of a better Christmas present! Fingers crossed! :)
