Crazy Stupid Love Trailer

Eeee!!! I’m so excited to watch this new movie!!! It’s called Crazy Stupid Love and it stars the HAWT Ryan Gosling! Yes!!! Migod I haven’t watched him in so long, the last was The Notebook and it was YEARS ago!!!

He is still SO HOT!! Actually he got even hotter. “Seriously??? It’s like you’re photoshopped!!” says Emma Stone who’s just been blinded by Ryan Gosling’s sweet abs. Hehehehe. She would probably say the same thing outside of the movie. Love it! (But I hope they don’t become an item – Emma you are too YOUNG for Ryan – and you DON’T DESERVE the hotness. I do.)

Oh, by the way, the movie isn’t really centered on Ryan and Emma. They’re just second leads in this ensemble. The real story revolves around Steve Carrell, who’s just recently gotten divorced from Julianne Moore, and is now trying to get back to the swing of dating, who is helped by his officemate Ryan who is a pro at dating and dumping. (Except he meets Emma later and falls for her anyways.) Steve realizes he still loves Julianne and I guess by the end of the movie, we’ll see them back together.

Ogod please not too many Steve Carrell scenes. Forgive me but I don’t really like his humor much, a little too dry and subtle. I like it all out and OMGWTF-kind-of-funny. Hehe.

Still, Ryan Gosling is THE saving grace of this movie and I am going to watch it just to see his abs on the big screen, bigger than real life, and munch on my popcorn happily.

Zookeeper Trailer

The Zookeeper is one of the comedy films I’m looking forward to watching this year! Because, boy, it feels like there hasn’t been much output in that genre!

People are comparing the movie to Night at the Museum, which, you know shared the same premise – caretaker finds out he suddenly can speak to animals – mayhem ensues. But given the extremely dry season, I’ll take what I can get.

The Zookeeper stars Kevin James, Rosario Dawson, Donnie Wahlberg, Adam Sandler, Sylvester Stallone and and Cher. Star-studded! I hope the movie is comedy gold. Here’s the Zookeeper trailer!

Horrible Bosses Trailer

It’s a new Jennifer Aniston movie! Ok, well, she’s not really the star, but she plays a horrible boss and THE ONLY woman in a lead cast of 7. HMMM! Have the producers not heard of gender diversity?? It feels like The Hangover all over again.

Except, this movie stars Jason Bateman, and I generally love his sense of humor. Jason Sudeikis too. They’re funny nerds. So I am looking forward to watching the movie, and I definitely hope that Jen gets LOTS of screen time! She’s playing a dentist who’s quite raunchy. I wonder if any of our poor star employees gets it with her in the movie. Maybe her assistant?

Anyway, here’s the Horrible Bosses trailer, and it looks fun!

Brave Trailer

The combination of Disney-Pixar has always been an amazing tandem, resulting in great movies such as Toy Story, Monsters Inc, WALL-E, Up, etc. Now comes Brave, a fairy tale of Princess Merida, an archer and daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. She is determined to make her own destiny, and outrages the lords of her kingdom when she defies a sacred tradition. She asks a witch for help, and somehow her mother is turned into a bear. To turn back the curse, Merida must learn the meaning of true bravery.

OMGGGG so excited to watch this film! This is the first fairy tale that Pixar will be embarking on. Of course Disney is a pro in that area, and I am just so super psyched to see a beautifully animated fairy tale done in 3D Pixar style!!! And Merida is the first female lead for Pixar. Yay, this is the first Pixar film that I am actually excited to watch!! Hehehe. I did say I loved the other Pixar films, it’s just that I liked it AFTER watching the movie. But for Brave, I can tell I will love it even after just watching the trailer.

Brave was previously named The Bear and the Bow. It hits theatres on June 22, 2012.

Mission Impossible Trailer

This is the trailer for Mission Impossible 4. Starring Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt of course! It hits theatres on December 26! From the looks of the trailer, things will be smashing breaking falling – Ethan would need to get auto/house/office/restaurant equipment for sale to put back everything he destroys in order to save the world! Though I am sure he gets highly paid to be a spy.

Knowledge Bit: The building Tom Cruise is rappelling on is Burj Kahlifa in Dubai. That’s the tallest building in the world!

P.S. I hope he doesn’t take off his shirt in this movie anymore. The last time he did that, it was a bit jarring (realization: he’s no longer the superhot Tom Cruise of Top Gun and Interview with the Vampire days! wahhh!).

Those are lyrics from the song “Who Says” from the OST of Monte Carlo. I just came from the Greenbelt where I watched the movie starring Selena Gomez (yes, she sang the song too!). As expected, it was a feel good movie that was light, fluffy and with a predictably happy ending. Yes, I love movies like these. Hahah.

I’ve watched so many blockbuster movies this year – Pirates, Green Lantern, Super 8, Transformers, etc. Sure, they were amazing and left me dizzy with all the twists and action shots and special effects… But sometimes I just want to relax and watch a movie where I know it will be colorful, pretty, fun and full of cute guys. Haha. Wish granted!!

If you like Disney movies, you will like this flick. And the Australian guy is hot.

I love the music too! As you know since I just sang the lyrics to you in the beginning of this post, haha. In fact, I’m playing it on loud right now, and on an endless loop. It’s so bubbly!!

“Subject: I Love You” Stars Jericho Rosales and Briana Evigan

This is so cool. A Hollywood movie based on the “I Love You” computer virus of 2000, which originated from the Philippines, stars Jericho Rosales opposite Briana Evigan, who I last saw in Step Up 2!

Other notable actors in the film are Dean Cain, Dante Basco, Kristin Bauer, Lauren Bittner, Andrew Leeds, Luisse Belle Pressman, and Filipino actors Joel Torre, Gary Valenciano and Tirso Cruz III. Plus it stars a Tagalog-speaking Apl.De.Ap of the Black Eyed Peas!!

One of the things I thought when I watched the trailer was, “So THAT’s where the lost boy went!” Do you know who I am talking about??? Dante Basco who played Rufio from the movie Hook!!! Okay, so maybe the guy’s had other movies in between – let’s give him credit. But this was the first time I saw him since Hook and I LOLed. I thought Lost Boys never grew up. Hehehe!

Don’t take the story to heart, though. It’s just a fantasy, very loosely based on the actual event. It’s a love story between Jericho and Briana. Excited to watch this!

[Movie Watch] Something Borrowed

Yay! A romance novel that isn’t written by the chauvinist that is Nicholas Sparks turned into a movie! How rare! Here is the trailer for Something Borrowed, based on a book by the same name authored by Emily Giffin.

I read this a few years ago. It’s still in my phone, and it was one of those fun ones, like the Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella books, which aren’t too mushy and contain quite a good deal of comedy. I don’t remember the plot so much anymore, but judging from the trailer it’s obvious Ginnifer will end up with John, right? I like Ginnifer Goodwin and John Krasinki, and I love watching Kate Hudson as the bitchy best friend (not so much when she’s the leading lady). So I am looking forward to this movie.

Watch The Hunger Games Movie Trailer

This is just a fan-made video, it’s not real, and nothing’s being filmed yet but it’s true that Lionsgate has bought the rights to film the movie. The script is still being revised by screenwriter Billy Ray, so it may be a year or two before we see Katniss and Peeta on the big screen.

But, golly, you should watch this, it’s awesome!

Hey – if Lucas Till really got the part of Peeta, I may be swayed! I am in the Katniss-Gale camp, by the way. First love, all the way.

I dunno who the girl is in this fan trailer, but I heard Chloe Moretz was interested in playing Katniss. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Though, would she be old enough..? Katniss is 16, Chloe is only 13. But she would deffo make a great Katniss. Have you seen her in Kick-Ass? Mindy (aka Hit Girl) stole the show from right under Aaron Johnson’s nose! And her latest movie, Let Me In, though it wasn’t that great, you couldn’t help but be mesmerized by Abby. That girl is a born star.

Check it, the movie poster for Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows has been released by Warner Brothers. It’s Hogwarts, up in flames! I have a feeling Part 1 is going to be gloom and doom as hell.

Hope they don’t keep us waiting too long for Part II! Heck, if they played it back to back, I’d stay for 4 hours straight. Wouldn’t you?

Prince of Persia

I’ve been excited about this movie since I first saw the trailer several months ago. Being a fan of the game (not to mention the genre) since it first debuted on PC in its full 2D-pixelated DOS version (that was way back when diamond engagement rings were cool), you could say that I had a lot of expectations (and fears) about the movie.

My primary concern was whether or not they’d be too faithful to the storyline (I’m the type of fan who likes my “film version” of a book or game to be based *on*, but not *be* the movie equivalent). I’m glad to say that Jerry and Co. did not disappoint.

Sure, it followed the game’s plot closely, but enough changes were made to give a refreshing point of view on a game that has been played since Lindsay Lohan was in diapers. I really liked the action sequences (with all that wall climbing, free falling, and rope-free rappelling, I was half-expecting Jake Gyllenhaal to suddenly sprout wings and soar off into the sunset while in mid-pirouette).

There were times though, when I felt that I was watching a cross between Aladdin and Pirates (believe me when I say some scenes resembled the Cave of Wonders), and that the lead actress bordered on annoying, but still, the moves Jake pulled were badass enough to make me go “whoa!” all throughout.

Overall, I’m giving this movie 8 stars out of 10. I deducted one point due to the princess talking too much, and one more point because of their obviously fake British accents.

The Kingdom

I’ve just seen what was for me, one of the most thrilling and relevant films in the war genre (no need to exercise on that treadmill, this film will be sure to keep your heart pounding) . The Kingdom follows the story of an FBI team attempting to uncover a ruthless terrorist attack targeting expatriates working for a Saudi based Saudi-American oil company (ARAMCO).

The story starts on the day of of the attack where hundreds of ARAMCO employees (mostly expatriates) together with their wives and children were out on a ballpark, playing baseball, lounging on beach chairs, and overall having a good time. The ballpark and the compound in general are protected by a perimeter of highly trained Saudi national guard and police. Two men dressed in the uniforms of the police force walk up to the back gate, kill the guards manning the outpost, hop into a four wheel drive and speed off into the compound, spraying bullets indiscriminately killing residents.

In the ensuing panic residents flee towards the safety of their building. A man in police uniform directs the residents towards him and then suddenly chants Arabic verses and detonates a bomb strapped to his chest killing him and the residents around him. An hour later, paramedics and rescuers fill the site pulling victims out of the rubble and rescuing the wounded. While all this was going on, a truck filled with explosives suddenly detonate, blasting a crater 30 feet wide in diameter and killing rescuers and survivors alike.

The entire movie then revolves around finding the men responsible for the twin bombings and the alliance and bond that is built between two men- Special Agent Ronald Fleury of the FBI (Jamie Foxx) and Colonel Faris Al-Ghazi of the Saudi State Police (Ashraf Barhom). The film also stars Jennifer Garner, Chris Cooper and Jason Bateman. The film is very believable with intense action-packed scenes. Overall rating? 9 stars out of 10.

The Pacific

Seems like I’ve got a lot of time on my hands these days. Proof of that would be my spending every morning watching two movies at the very least. This is in sharp contrast to three weeks ago when I barely had enough time to sleep. Anyways, for those of you who loved Band of Brothers, another HBO-miniseries production made its debut this summer (it contains enough testosterone to negate the use of vigrx). The Pacific stars Joseph Mazzello (remember that little kid from the original Jurassic Park? Well, he ain’t that little anymore), Jon Seda, and Ashton Holmes among others.

All grown up

On it’s seventh episode this week, The Pacific is a 10-part miniseries produced by Tom Hanks and HBO. It chronicles the lives of soldiers sent to attack the Japanese holed up in various islands in the Pacific Ocean. Several award winning directors did each of the 10 series in the season.

I’ve only seen episodes 1 and 2 (still downloading the 3rd t 7th) but so far, I can really say that The Pacific is on its way to becoming one of those all time classics, joining the ranks of Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. The Pacific is raw, gritty, emotional and will sure to delight fans of the war genre. Overall rating? I’m giving it a 10 stars out of 10.

The Rocker- movie review

I heard that Starmovies is going digital very very soon which means that I won’t be able to catch it anymore (unlike those acnepril reviews) unless I buy a digibox and pay the increase in the current monthly rates our friendly neighborhood cable station is planning to add in order for consumers to avail of Star. So I am trying to tune in to as much Star programs as I could- while I still can, which was how I came across The Rocker.

The Rocker is one of those feel good, zero to hero movies that follows the misadventures of a drummer for a local Cleveland band (Vesuvius). As soon as the band starts getting fame, a big record company approaches the group and makes them an offer they couldn’t refuse, with a hitch- they have to get rid of their drummer. Feeling betrayed, the drummer vows to start another band that will soon eclipse his original group. Twenty years later and the drummer, Robert “Fish” Fishman, is stuck in a measly desk job that he hates. His luck soon turns when his nephew, who is in a high school amateur band (A.D.D.), asks for his help replacing their drummer who couldn’t play during prom night. So begins Fish’s second chance at adolescence and his ultimate rise to meteoric fame.

While I felt that the plot was not that original, I really found the sound track very refreshing. Most of the songs done by A.D.D. were catchy and I found myself humming along as they played. I Googled the songs to see if they were original and was surprised to find out that they are. I was also surprised to that A.D.D.’s fictional lead singer Curtis Powell, is played by a real-life musician (Teddy Geiger) and that all of the songs performed by A.D.D. are actually his. However, despite its refreshing repertoire of songs, The Rocker is still unfortunately, best known as the least profitable film of 2008, having grossed less than 7 million. Considering that they spent 15 million doing this movie, that’s quite a loss.

Avatar Torrent DVD Screener [Download]

Until yesterday, the best online copy of the blockbuster hit that is Avatar was only a Telesync. Yes I have that copy, but no I did not watch it as the low quality annoyed me. However, I gave it to my friends who badly wanted to watch anyway.

But now the DVD Screener has been leaked, and given that only the Academy Awards voters have been given a copy, it probably came from them. Well, thank you, Oscars! I can finally finish watching Avatar.

It’s a long story, what I went through to watch Avatar. Basically, the movie was cut off before it ended. Because the lazy staff of Mindpro Mall wanted to go home early and their stupid managers had gone home. A fun night out turned ugly and we even had a shouting match with the supervisor the following day.

We got our money back after about 30 minutes of yelling and threatening the incompetent staff at Mindpro. They didn’t want to return the money. Their logic was that well, we should have listened when they asked us to enter the moviehouse before the previous screening ended so that we could have caught the end of the movie! What?! They expected us to watch the movie backwards??? And never explained when we bought the tickets that the movie was going to be cut off?!? Fuck off!!!

*Calming myself*

Ah, sorry for the outburst. It was just a very bad experience for me. In any case, I am never watching a movie there again. Boycott Mindpro, you hear?!

Wanted to watch the movie in Manila again, but ah, nobody wanted to come with me see it in 3D. And most everyone had already watched it. So I’m thankful for the torrent, at least.

Definitely, Maybe

I got caught up a little while ago about a movie on HBO. It’s called Defintely, Maybe and stars, if I’m not mistaken, Ryan Reynolds (Wish I had his physique. Must be all those fat burners). It’s about a young father struggling with a divorce. His 9? 10? year old daughter is mature enough to know what’s afoot and decides to ask her dad about his life with her mother and how they fell in love.

So Will (the dad) tells about his past and how he shared his life with three very different women, one of who’s Maya’s (the daughter) mother. He changes the names of the women to keep Maya guessing who her mom is. Could it be Emily, his longtime college sweetheart? Or could it be April, the happy-go-lucky, very free girl he met in one cold wintry night? Or maybe it’s Summer, Emily’s best friend and lover of a septuagenarian?

In the end, Maya correctly guesses who her mother might be by the way she brushes back Will’s and then Maya’s own hair. Sometime in the story, Maya takes on the role of adult and helps/convinces Will to follow his heart and be happy.

Rob Thomas Confirms Veronica Mars Movie

Omigod!!! A Veronica Mars movie is in the works! Rob Thomas, the creator of the hit series Veronica Mars (starring Kristen Bell), will be writing the script while Joel Silver will be producing it.

Jason Dohring, Enrico Colantoni and Kristen Bell have already been informed about it, and Kristen Bell reportedly wants to do the film. Yes!!!

Finally, we fans might have closure, thank goodness. I have watched this show from the beginning and LOVED it. But it was cancelled much too abruptly (why???), there were so many mysteries unsolved and decisions unresolved, it was just so very sad for me and all the Veronica Mars fans.

I think Kristen Bell is a great actress and Veronica Mars is one young woman that girls can definitely look up to. I do! (Hello, she’s a teenage PI! She was popular, her best friend died, her father lost his job, she got rejected and chose the Outer Banks of school, and became a private investigator! Plus, she was drugged, got raped in her sleep, sleuthed and caught the rapist!)

Wow, I am just so happy about seeing Veronica Mars again. So, is she gonna end up with Logan, or Piz???
