Madonna’s Halftime Show on Super Bowl XLVI

Can I just say, WOW! Madonna killed it on her halftime show in the 46th Superbowl. I love that she performed Vogue and Like a Prayer and some snippets here and there of the songs that made her the icon that she is now. Those songs are gold.

She introduced some new collaborations too. Overall I liked her setlist. But I LOVED the set and the dancing and the performance! Here, watch it yourself!

I love the opening shot! Men in golden gladiator attire – by the dozens!!! Oh yeah!!!

It’s like a fleet on men! And the stage!!! What a production huh?

Her first song is Vogue! I love how she loves to treat her men like slaves, sitting on them, making them wear atrocious clothing, haha! She should have performed Human Nature too.

I was amazed by the set. They super maximized the field!! I’d have loved to be there in person to see the field light up with these amazing graphics.

Her next song is Music, and she stumbles for a bit. Good thing she didn’t fall!! Dancing on the bleachers looks scary to me!!

Then there is this guy who balances on a string and does crazy jumps on it!! Wow! I wonder who he is?!? Is he a gymnast? Stuntman? That part was cool!

Next she performs with these two guys called LMFAO. I haven’t heard of them before this, but the song Shuffling is catchy.

She also performs with Nicki Minaj and MIA, and I found out it’s actually a new song Madonna has out called “Give Me All Your Love”. Wow, lucky girls.

Lastly, she performs “Like a Virgin” with – so random – CEELO! First look at this shot. Isn’t it gorgeous!!! Yeah, they got the dancers all dressed up like a choir – this after Madonna danced with cheerleaders and half-naked gladiators. Hahaha I love how she loves to mix up religion with scandal.

Here she is with Ceelo, who I’m not sure what’s he’s supposed to be here. Preacher? Backup singer? Dancer?

I’m glad Madonna didn’t wear any skimpy outfits. She’s aging well. Don’t hate on her and say it’s the botox and the surgeries. Hey if one my day my looks start to fail and I can afford it, I’ll do the same thing. But I think she really just takes good care of herself, eating healthy and doing yoga and Pilates and being a good mother to her kids. Being happy makes her beautiful.

I can see why she’s a superstar.

Those are lyrics from the song “Who Says” from the OST of Monte Carlo. I just came from the Greenbelt where I watched the movie starring Selena Gomez (yes, she sang the song too!). As expected, it was a feel good movie that was light, fluffy and with a predictably happy ending. Yes, I love movies like these. Hahah.

I’ve watched so many blockbuster movies this year – Pirates, Green Lantern, Super 8, Transformers, etc. Sure, they were amazing and left me dizzy with all the twists and action shots and special effects… But sometimes I just want to relax and watch a movie where I know it will be colorful, pretty, fun and full of cute guys. Haha. Wish granted!!

If you like Disney movies, you will like this flick. And the Australian guy is hot.

I love the music too! As you know since I just sang the lyrics to you in the beginning of this post, haha. In fact, I’m playing it on loud right now, and on an endless loop. It’s so bubbly!!

This is a song by Comic Relief, a Zamboanga band. Since Maldita just got a music contract, I am hoping Comic Relief will too. Because they have great songs.

Porque (Maldita) Translation

Gim and I were on the taxi on the way to SM Megamall a couple of days ago chattering as usual. The music from the radio seemed very familiar but it didn’t sink in until about halfway through the song, I realized, the song was in Chavacano! It was the song “Porque” by Maldita, a Zamboanga band. I was so elated!

That song was a hit back home but I hadn’t realized it was getting Manila airplays too. Until the taxi ride. And – what a surprise – there was some part sung in Tagalog too! But those parts weren’t that good, the song was more beautiful with Chavacano words.

Porque means “Why” in Chavacano. The single is the first released by Maldita, originally a local Zamboanga band. Vocalists are Francel de Leon and Demz Espinosa.

Eraserheads Reunion Concert (Part 2) Mall of Asia Tickets

It’s confirmed, the Eraserheads will push through with the second part of their concert. (Ely Buendia suffered heart palpitations during the last concert, so the group was not able to play more than 15 songs.)

The concert will be held at SM Mall of Asia on March 7, 2009 at 8PM. Tickets are now available at your local TicketWorld outlet.

The ticket prices are such:

Maybe now we can listen to “Ang Huling El Bimbo” live once again.

Eraserheads: Reunion Concert DVD Arrives January 31, 2009

This is so high school, the Eraserheads. It was the time of alt rock, and they were the Beatles.

Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro reunited in concert on August 30 of last year, an engagement cut short after Ely almost had a heart attack and had to be rushed to the hospital. They were able to perform half of the planned 30 songs.

Sony BMG has just announced that the Eraserheads: Reunion Concert DVD will be released on January 31, 2009. All 15 songs are included “plus bonus features of behind-the-scene footages, rehearsals, etc“.

The tracks include Alapaap, Ligaya, Sembreak, Hey Jay, Harana, Fruitcake, Toyang, Kamasupra, Kailan, Huwag Kang Matakot, Kaliwete, With A Smile, Shake Yer Head, Huwag Mo Nang Itanong and Light Years.
