Puffy Eyes

Posted on 12 April 2012 by Flisha

Gim could benefit from a bit of egyptian magic cream. Put it under his eyes for a bit of relief, because due to the enormous stress he’s been under and the many nights he has to stay awake in the ER, the area under his eyes (what do you call those, again? Oh. EyeBAGS.) have really become puffy.

Mine too but I’m not showing a picture of myself because it’s not only my eyes that have become puffy. And it’s because all I do everyday is sit and type away on a computer. Like I told an officemate, I am definitely in need of a change – a lifestyle change!

But enough about me, let’s take a look at Gim instead.

IMG_0275

He’s still cute though. :-) Side note, do you know that in Korea eyebags are a good thing? I mean, the Korean girls think they’re attractive because they make the eyes look larger than they really are.

Look on the bright side! :-)

Makati At Night

Posted on 12 April 2012 by Flisha

One day I would love to visit a yoyofactory. Or any toy factory, for that matter. So many things I want to do in life, and so little time.

Thankfully there was a break last week due to Holy Week. Gim being a doctor though it still meant we didn’t have time to go out of town since he has duties even on holidays. But at least he got the weekend free.

So last Sunday, we had fun walking around the streets of at night. It was Easter Sunday and there weren’t many people around, so we took my camera and shot some (mostly) empty streets. Hey, it’s not everyday you get to see an empty city!

This is somewhere in Greenbelt. We took this while we were walking on the overpass.

The other side, facing Landmark and The Link.

IMG_0321

This one facing Ayala Avenue. We had to wait a while so that cars would pass by to make the pretty light trails. Gim was squealing at the light trails. Noob!

IMG_0326

OK I admit these were all his photos as mine were all blurred. Harumph.

IMG_0331

It was my camera, though, so I claim all the credit. Muahahaha!

Victoria Should Get a New Shredder #FellowesInc

Victoria Should Get a New Shredder #FellowesInc

Posted on 09 April 2012 by flish

This post brought to you by Fellowes. All opinions are 100% mine.

There is that scene in Revenge where Victoria shreds up Lydia Davis’ speech which threatened to expose all the lies of the Grayson family, then crazy guy Tyler later goes and picks up the shredded pieces and puts them back together.

All I could think of during that scene was: How stupid of the Grayson family to buy such a simple shredder!!! With all the secrets they were keeping, they should have invested in a better one!

Victoria should have bought the Fellowes 79Ci paper shredder which has heavy-duty blades and cross-cut technology capable of destroying a single sheet of paper into 399 particles, which only costs $239.99.

Final Non Sampling Copy 2.21.12.doc

Now if the Grayson family had the Fellowes 79Ci shredder, Tyler would have never been able to piece that speech back together! Or maybe he could have but he’d probably have a totally different speech, LOL!

Plus this shredder has SilentShred™ technology, so it works ultra quietly. So maybe Tyler wouldn’t have heard the shredding. But then again, he was a shady guy, those eagle-sharp eyes would have caught it anyway!

Oh well, Victoria still has loads more skeletons in her closet, so she better invest in a proper shredder from now on. The 79Ci shredder has SafeSense® technology which means Victoria’s delicate but murderous hands will never accidentally get caught in the shredder because the advanced electronic safety sensor automatically disables the shredder when hands touch the paper opening. AND it’s 100% Jam Proof, so it detects when paper has been mis-fed or fast-fed into the shredder by turbo-powering through the job or reversing the paper out for easy removal, therefore Victoria can rest easy knowing future documents will never be only shred half-way.

Her secrets will be totally safe now!!!

Except from Emily Thorne.

OK you guys, what do you like best about my bet for Victoria’s new shredder??? Leave a comment. LOL!

Titanic Trailer

Posted on 02 April 2012 by Flisha

was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. One of the most tragic, too.

Now it’s playing in theaters again, but in 3d. Sucks for me because I hate watching 3d movies, I find them blurry and confusing, and I hate wearing those stupid glasses.

My only hope is that they release it without the 3d as well!

Here is the trailer for Titanic!

Lucky One Trailer

Posted on 02 April 2012 by Flisha

stars . Do I need to say more?!?

Zac plays US marine Logan Thibault, back from his third tour of duty in Iraq, to find the woman he believes is his lucky charm.

Back in Iraq, he found a photo of a woman buried in the sand. Nobody claimed the photo, so he kept it. He suddenly experienced a streak of luck – winning poker games and surviving combat – while all the time carrying the photo. That’s how the photo became his lucky charm.

Now in Colorado, Logan can’t keep the woman out of his mind, so he journeys across America to find her. She is in Hampton, North Carolina. Divorced, with a young son.

He takes a job at her family-run local kennel, and they embark on a passionate affair.

is definitely the lucky one to be starring opposite the hot Zac Efron!!!

Here is the trailer.

La Paz Sand Dunes, Laoag, Ilocos Norte

Posted on 21 March 2012 by Flisha

Last December, I tagged along with Gim on his medical mission trip to . One of the places we went to was the .

It was my first time to see such massive amounts of sand – on land! I mean, I’m not used to seeing sand without water. This was hills and hills of sand!!!

Closest I’ve ever gotten to a desert! So naturally, Gim and I had to play! Smile

This was the view on our way to La Paz. Big wide river that later melted into the sea.

IMG_9703IMG_9708IMG_9709IMG_9712

Along the way there were some people cooking food right beside the road! Looked like lots of fun! They must have been preparing for a big event like a fiesta judging by the size of their woks!

IMG_9714

Here comes the sand…

IMG_9715

Manong tricycle driver driving uphill…

IMG_9720

We had to stop for a bit. To take photos. But of course! Smile

IMG_9722

Sand, sun, and beach! What’s not to like???

IMG_9725IMG_9727IMG_9730IMG_9732IMG_9734IMG_9737

I totally felt like Anne of the Island in this photo. Hahaha! Maybe I should make this my Facebook profile photo.

IMG_9739

Gim couldn’t help it – he climbed up the hill!

IMG_9744IMG_9745IMG_9746

And soon after, I followed suit! Smile

IMG_9748IMG_9749

How could you be on the top of a hill and not take a jump shot?!? Amiryt???

IMG_9750IMG_9751IMG_9752IMG_9754IMG_9755IMG_9760IMG_9766IMG_9768IMG_9770IMG_9772IMG_9773IMG_9774

Oooo… pretty pink flower!

IMG_9776IMG_9777

Alas, soon enough we had to go down… those are our footsteps. As you can see they don’t look like steps. They look more like a big butt which slid downhill. Which is just a coincidence, I swear.

IMG_9781IMG_9784

We had to pop down and see the beach for a minute. Yeah, this was really just a minute because we got called away as soon as we stepped on the shore.

IMG_9785IMG_9786

The entire trip was just a quick 30 to 45 minutes, even though the number of photos doesn’t really seem like it was under less than an hour. But it was.

I want to go back!!! Sun

Strawberry Farm of Baguio

Strawberry Farm of Baguio

Posted on 17 March 2012 by Flisha

It isn’t funny how real climate change is. You can feel it in the weirdness of the seasons, how the rains come so much earlier, how hotter than normal it is when it’s the sunny season…

Take the time we went to , first week of March. Five years ago, same time this year, it was freaking cold!! So cold we were in jackets and still shivering. So cold that we could even see and feel the fog.

This time around, it was warm during the day, though the night brought cool relief. At times, it was downright hot!

And it was hot when we went to the at high noon. Look at those uncomfortable smiles!!

IMG_0039

Yep, we were feeling the heat alright! Nevertheless we had fun gawking at the cheap prices of all the vegetables. If I could I would have bought a basketful of vegetables here, but alas I knew I couldn’t carry them all home (from Baguio to Manila is about 6 hours bus trip) so I settled for 3 heads of broccoli (3 enormous heads for P100 what a steal!), a small basket of strawberries (P50) and half a kilo of blueberries (P100).

IMG_0041

We had a fun time looking around in the strawberry fields…

IMG_0030

Jotie finishing his strawberry taho (or was it the strawberry ice cream?) and Raquel taking photos of the strawberry plants.

IMG_0031

Leo telling us about the strawberry farm, that actually this is really more for show as most of the farms aren’t in Baguio but in Benguet. Chris listening intently.

IMG_0032

This is a row of potatoes, yes! In the midst of the smaller strawberry plants.

IMG_0033

And here is a potato bud, soon it will flower.

IMG_0035

And here is a broccoli head! The leaves are so large! I wish I had a garden like this in my backyard, fresh vegetables all the time, yummm!!!

IMG_0036

And here we have some lettuce, and in between the lettuce and broccoli are a few onion plants.

IMG_0038

It was a fun day, despite the heat. Smile L-R: Me, Brian, Jotie, Raq and Chris.

Daylight Savings Time 2012

Posted on 11 March 2012 by Flisha

It’s March 11, 2012. Time change for those living in countries who practice !

daylightsavingtime

At 2am this morning, clocks turned forward one hour. So, people around the world just lost an hour of sleep.

But don’t worry, come November 4, 2012, you will get it back because the clock will turn back one hour on that day.

Good thing I live in the Philippines, the clocks churns predictably on whether it’s spring or fall.

But I still have to keep up with this change because in my work, we support global clients. So when I setup meetings, I need to know the time in EST or else I might be agreeing to the wrong time!

New iPad 3

Posted on 11 March 2012 by Flisha

So, the 3, or as it is officially known, “the new ” (is Steve Jobs rolling over his grave at the stupidity of this title or what?), has just been released.

the-new-ipad-ipad-3

One of the highly touted features of the new iPad 3 is its 4G feature. Unfortunately, this will only work on AT&T’s network, so even if Smart Philippines can support 4G, the new iPad 3 won’t run on it anyway.

Aside from this useless feature (for the rest of the world anyway), the other 2 reasons to buy the new iPad would be its higher resolution and its new camera. iPad 2 has a display resolution of 1024×768. The resolution of the new iPad is 2048×1536. iPad 2 has a shitty camera, the new iPad has a camera similar to the iPhone 4 (five-megapixel sensor and captures 1080p video).

And… that’s it. Kind of a letdown, really. I mean, everyone expected the new camera and better resolution. So, there isn’t anything else they wanted to add? Not even a full Siri made it to the new iPad.

So. If you already have the iPad 2, I would not advise you to upgrade unless you want to use your iPad to take great photos. And really, you aren’t, because holding up a giant tablet to take a photo in public is kinda embarrassing, isn’t it?

But if you don’t have an iPad yet then by all means get the new iPad since it takes over the old price of iPad 2 so there’s nothing to lose – if you were planning to buy an iPad anyway. But if you want to save some bucks, get the iPad 2 instead which by now is totes cheaper starting at $400.
