I’m always on the lookout for keywords I can capitalize on. Girl Cherry Pop popped out at me. Seems fairly harmless, wouldn’t you think. Actually I thought, isn’t this some kind of British girl band or something? Why are so many people searching it? And then, waiiitttt….

Why cherry, hey? I get that it’s pink, but, fruity? Seriously, there is nothing fruity about a woman’s genitalia. Why don’t they call it Alibaba’s Cave or something. Because you have to have magic words to enter it, ya get what I mean???

Really, “pop my cherry” makes no sense. I’m not the only one who thinks that. Enter it into a Google search and you’ll see the first hit is a Yahoo! Answers page with people asking, “What does pop my cherry mean???” I’m with you, Bob. I don’t know what popping your cherry means either.

It gets better. The search terms, I mean.

Did he pop my cherry? [Good question.]
Did I pop my cherry??? [Oh Good Lord I hope you did not.]

Inside Ward 9

So I’m back in the hallowed wards of Zamboanga City Medical Center making up for all those absences I’ve accrued while rotating through my internship. First stop- the home of the insane (as insane as credit cards for bad credit); Ward 9.

I had mixed feelings as I went through my 8 hour shift in this ward awhile ago. On the one hand, I was glad to see my ‘suking customers’ again; the regulars who’ve been there for years now and who entertained us on numerous occasions with their insane (literally) jokes and silly antics.

There was one patient- we call him Jerome (not his real name) who just can’t stop discussing the benefits of a capitalist economy and a socialist one (in fluent English at that!). Or Sharon and Mayet, who can’t seem to stop arguing over who’s the prettiest between them. It was heartening to have them recognize me still (despite their illnesses), with Jerome even recounting how he kept telling me that before that he wasn’t crazy and was just put there by mistake (he now admits that he may have a mental problem).

On the other hand it’s kind of sad that another year has gone by and they’re still institutionalized. Most of them have long since been abandoned by family and friends. And there are new ones too. Like that 14 year old girl who was raped, beaten and left for dead. Her family found her in a catatonic state, blankly staring at the wall. Now, she still still continues to stare blankly into space, has developed Pneumonia and necrotic (rotting) ulcers on her lower back where her tormentors put out their lighted cigarettes.She would need intensive rehabilitation to help her back on her feet. But sadly, the hospital does not have the capacity and the specialists needed to give the attention and care that she needs. There are just too many patients and too little resources. Government spending for the health sector still remains one of the lowest. It’s depressing, I know.

The campaign period is now drawing to a close. In 10 days, we will elect a new president, a new congress, new government officials. When you do, please spare a thought for the patients like Jerome, Sharon, and that 14 year old girl in public hospitals across the country and vote wisely.

Ah well, I’m still in limbo.

Have I mentioned my laptop’s gone to HP for repair? The good news is that they honored the extended warranty. Yay! I knew they would!

But the bad news is that since my laptop was not bought in the Philippines, the parts are going to take a little while longer to procure. They’re changing the motherboard, as again, I knew.

So I’m writing this blog from an Internet cafe! Poor me, no?

Not to worry! Life is gonna take an interesting turn. I fervently hope!

Somebody, Spare Me From This Misery!

If you’ve been watching my Twitpic updates lately, you most probably have inferred that I am sick, and have been, for over a week now. Wishing I’m on vacation instead of letting my virus incubate in this little room of mine.

I’m suffering terribly. I’d call for room service, but my mother’s not gonna like that.

My bad, I didn’t listen to my own doctor.

It started out as a sore throat. I tried to ignore it, and took calamansi (citrus fruit) to ease the discomfort. Dr Gim wanted to give me meds, but I told him I didn’t want any. (I’m anti-drugs like that.) I insisted my immunity would win over the virus, or bacteria, or whatever it was inside me that put angry red welts at the back of my throat. He was frustrated, but was wary enough of my temper not to force pills down my throat. (I can be very violent sometimes.)

In the next few days the flu worsened. My nose started clogging up, and my lungs are probably filled with phlegm as well. I have headaches too. So. I finally let the doctor prescribe me some meds.

He gave me biogesic for my headache, erithromycin to stave off bacteria and delcogen for my cough. My temp is back to normal, no more headaches, feeling a little bit better but still sniffing and coughing like crazy.

He, on the other hand, took meds as soon as he started showing flu symptoms. And while I am still very sick, he is already recuperating.

Serves me right for not listening!

I just wanted to give a shout out to my wonderful boyfriend, Gim, who is now a doctor.

Dr. Gerardo Aniano C. Dimaguila was awarded his degree in medicine, from the Ateneo School of Medicine, on April 16, 2009 at the Garden Orchid Hotel in Zamboanga City.

He also got the Best Individual Research award.

He will be an intern for General Hospital for the next six months. Then he will be studying to get a Masters in Public Health, then for the boards. Then maybe he will choose a specialty like orthopedics or drug rehab. Then who knows what, but that it is certainly a bright future.

Congratulations, Gim!

Okay, you may ask why did I post a photo of him sitting down, exhausted, in my living room, and not one from his graduation ceremony?

Well, though I did bring a camera during his graduation, I was quite shy so I did not take any photos. His parents do have some photos in their camera but Gim hasn’t given them to me yet. And we did get photos from the “professional” photographers on the job, but I haven’t had them scanned yet.

(Oh and the photogs did a terrible job. So many blurred, dark, ruined photos! I wonder why they got hired???)

I know, I know, such procrastination! Tell me all about it.

I swear I will post them soon!

Freebra Talk

Most of my time in Manila a few weeks ago was spent browsing shops in SM and Trinoma, looking for something nice to wear for Gim’s graduation. I ended up buying two dresses, one an off-shoulder knee-length bright green empire-cut dress, the other a dark gray halter gown.

Either way I needed a strapless bra. And the halter gown being a bit low-cut at the back, I asked what kind of bra I should buy to wear with a backless, strapless dress (just in case… lol). The very helpful sales lady from Landmark told me I should get the Freebra. So, I went to check it out. And it looks like this:

They look like implants!!! (And they feel real to the touch too! They are silicone.) The sales lady told me that they stick to the skin, so you don’t have to use any straps for extra support (though straps are included in the package). Feeling like such a naughty school girl, I bought a pair for Php500 ($11).

I ended up not wearing them for Gim’s graduation. I was too afraid the adhesive would fail. (The sales girl said to follow the Freebra instructions to the letter or they would not last me three months.) It would be deathly embarrassing if my boobs looked like they were melting halfway through the ceremony! Instead I wore my body shaper. And I think it worked better anyway. I needed the shaping help!

I wore the Freebra on a casual date with Gim, where if in case my fake implants started to fall off I could tell him to bring me home stat, Doc!

FYI, they held up real nice.

Just ask Gim.

P.S. Some Freebra tips:

Don’t use any chemicals on your body before wearing the Freebra. Make sure skin is clean, fresh, and free of dirt or even towel fuzz.
After use, wash right away with mild soap and let air-dry, then store back in box.
To wear, grasp the edges of the Freebra cup, turn it inside out, touch the middle of the Freebra to your nipple and then smoothen it against the breast, outwardly from nipple.
The farther apart the Freebra cups, the greater the cleavage achieved.
You can use the Freebra at least 100 times if taken well care of.

P.P.S. I love my Freebra. I will buy more when I get back to Manila. I hate wearing bras. And as much as possible I don’t wear a bra if I feel I can get away with it, hahaha. Now I don’t have to deal with the pesky straps. I am free!!!

Childhood Friends and 3rd Cup Zamboanga

My friend Donnel turned a year older on the second of April, but it wasn’t until last week that we were able to celebrate it with him. He treated my friends and I to lunch in Greenfield’s Mano-Mano, and after an hour or so we headed to the latest coffee shop in Zamboanga, 3rd Cup.

And then there’s me. I’m way darker than normal, because of all the swimming. And way fatter because I’m home. Gahd this Zamboanga and all its overwhelming food.

Meeting up with my friends was fun, but sad as well because Chris wasn’t there. He was too busy working, that workaholic.

I finally realized why a lot of people come to 3rd cup. I was truly baffled the first time I came here, because the food sucked (and still does). It turns out that not only does 3rd cup have free (and fast) wifi, they also lend laptops at P25 per hour. What a steal!

I’m coming over a lot more often from now on!

Heidee Hangs Out in Astoria

My friend Heidee, who recently started working in Singapore, came home to Zamboanga about a week ago for a short visit. Of course, where should we hang out but my favorite new place to hang out, Astoria Regency!

It was high noon when we got to the hotel and it was sooo freakin’ hot. Maybe 36 degrees Celsius. Or worse. We had to order shakes ASAP. In fact, we each had two. I got corn shake, Gim had mango shake and Heids ordered what looks to be a watermelon shake. And then we ate lunch (calamares, lengua de baca and baked clams with garlic rice).

We were supposed to meet up with Jotie, Donnel, Brian and Chris. But they all had ~~excuses~~ reasons for not coming so it ended up just the three of us. (Just like old times, no, Heids? ^-^)

BPI Expressonline Saves the Day

Gim has just left for Dapitan again, and I am all alone in Zamboanga. I hate when Gim leaves, because all my friends are always so busy to go out. Right now I wish I were practicing my swimming, but I would never do that alone. (Read: Can’t deal with wearing a swimsuit without anyone to hide behind.)

Gim left before I could hand him cash so he could get me the Montano sardines I asked him to buy for me in Dipolog. (I in turn will bring it to Manila as pasalubong in April. My uncle likes them.)

There aren’t any credit card machines in Dapitan, not that I know of anyway, so it’s a good thing there’s BPI Expressonline. I have an account there, and since I so often transfer funds to Gim’s account so he can buy me stuff (LOL am I a demanding girlfriend or what!), I’ve actually had my bank add his account in my Transfer Funds list so I can automatically send him money whenever I need to. (My mom is in that list, too, because I constantly have to pay her for stuff I charge on her credit card hahaha.)

He’s coming back in a few days, though, so I really shouldn’t feel this antsy. Still, I miss him. And in two weeks, I’ll be leaving him again.

I want to be permanently attached to his side. Is that possible? Or am I turning into the psycho girlfriend he never wanted?

And That’s Not Me???

Earlier today I was deciding on a specialty in medicine for myself, suppose I were a doctor. I thought maybe neurosurgery would be perfect for me. Every day I could roll my eyes and tell someone, in a totally disparaging sort of way:

It’s not *brain* surgery.

But I mustn’t be hasty. I did consider other specialties. I thought oncology would be so cool. It totally wouldn’t be my fault if my patient dropped dead, plus I could concoct all sorts of experiments and maybe I’d find a cure for cancer. I’d have time to splurge on regular shopping sales too.

I told Gim (my doctor boyfriend who wants to specialize in orthopedics and say Dude feel my biceps! all day long) this and when I got to the oncology part, his brow furrowed and immediately he replied:

Bun, I don’t think that’s for you. Oncologists have to be really generous and unselfish.

FML.

So then we proceeded to discuss neurosurgery. Hypothetically.
