Things are just so hectic lately. But a good hectic.
There’s a lot of things to do at work. Like rebuilding my team. Learning about new technologies. Documenting knowledge. Improving our processes. Running our day to day operations. Managing people. Don’t get me wrong. I love it. I love that I get to contribute a lot. I love that my work is valuable to the team and the company. I love that what I do directly impacts people. I love that my opinion matters. It’s fulfilling. :)
Apart from work, I’ve also been busy in my personal life. Getting married and all that. :) Hehehe. So, by the way, I got married! I am now a married woman. I’m wearing rings! Hahaha. Funnily, nothing much has changed apart from my status. It’s what I’ve been saying all along. Gim and I were all but married save for the paperwork!
But that’s for another post. This is just to say… I will be posting again! Hahaha. Soon. I hope.

Today I’ve got extra time on my hands. My fiance being in Calapan and all. So what do I talk about, hmm?
Let’s talk about work. I just got an e-mail from my fellow team lead forwarding a heated exchange between two of our direct reports (both working on call this weekend). The girl (mine) was very angry because the guy (not mine) did not do his job of being the primary on call, which led to the girl having to do all the work last night (which she wasn’t supposed to). The girl made accusations about the guy slacking and worse, dropped some personal comments about his work ethic, and worst, copied my fellow team lead in. She did NOT cc me. She probably knew I would not take that e-mail of hers very well.
Headache!!! The tension at work is escalating by the day, and I’m starting to wonder if I did the right thing jumping into this company.
When I came in all seemed good and well – on the surface. Unbeknownst to me, tensions were already rising. I was hired into the first account of my IT company. There is now a new account in the company – which should have been great news to everyone. However, this account has been pirating resources from the first account! In the six months that I’ve been in the team, 5 have already been pirated into the new account! With 1 person resigning the company and 1 performing so poorly he will NOT be renewed (see above), this leaves our team crippled with only 3 remaining resources (by March). 3 resources and 2 team leads, how ridiculous!
The morale in the team has been very low these past few weeks, with so many people leaving and taking their expertise away with them. This shouldn’t have happened, not in a mature company. A resource should not be able to perform an internal transfer without the consent of his/her manager. But that’s not the way it works here and I don’t know why the upper management has allowed this to happen.
Oh and did I mention there’s a freeze hire??? Ah, yes.
So what will become of our team? Stay tuned…

The older I get, the longer my bucket list gets. One of the things I have been so eager to take up lately is piano. Do you think at my age I could still be apiano beginner?
Everyday I walk along the street where I work and there is this big music store where they sell all kinds of instruments. Guitars, drums, keyboards. And then there’s this beautiful grand piano in the corner display, and it just makes me long to be able to play it.
One of these days, I will definitely take some lessons. :)

I’m a girl in my early thirties and you know what excites me these days? Household things! Like carpets, wet wipes, tables, cabinets and 48 inch Drawer slides.
Yep, my priorities have definitely changed. The 31st of January was a great big sale day. Things were at 70% off! I spent a great deal on shoes (I bought 4 pairs!!) and walked around the malls all day. Yet, at the end of the day, I spent more on groceries, pillows and floor rugs. Hahahaha!
I am at the golden age of domesticity!

It’s that time of the year again. There’s a chill in the air, an excitement for upcoming holidays, and- oh! I’m getting ahead of myself. It’s my boyf- ahem! My fiance’s birthday month! Yay!
It’s an exciting month because he just completed his 4-year residency program in a specialized medical field. He’s in a new chapter of his life and it being his birthday month on top of it, I need to get him a really special gift.
And because he loves speakers and headphones and listening to music, I’ve been thinking of getting him the bose companion 20 multimedia speaker system.
What would you give your man on his birthday?

For Christmas, I got my boyfriend a pair of headphones. This was *his* idea, therefore making it the best gift ever. :)
If left to my own devices, I would not know what to buy him. I would probably buy a shirt or a watch. Or after shave (found it here). Does that sound like I do not understand my own boyfriend? Hahaha! One time I bought him a set of men’s facial cleansing products. I thought he might like it! Needless to say it’s still gathering dust 2 years later. Heh.
It’s very difficult thinking up gifts for men. Whenever we go shopping he never shows any interest in any shops, unless it’s a watch shop, so.
This Christmas I asked him specifically to tell me what he wanted. Really wanted. And he wanted these headphones. So we went to a music shop in Glorietta and got him these babies. Happy boyfriend, happy me!

We all have those days. Grueling meetings, numerous calls, piles of paperwork, (and for us in the medical profession) seemingly endless patients and surgeries. When the dust has settled and the clock has struck five (or six, or seven), all you want to do is head on home, slump down on your fave chair and take a looong sip out of a glass of ice cold beverage. Throw in your good ol’ mp3 playlist and nothin’ would be more perfect. So if you’re having one of those days, go ahead, take that breather- join now.
And we invoke the chill!

I love karaoke… PRIVATE karaoke, that is! I couldn’t impose my no-tune no-finesse singing voice unto others, haha! I need the blx288 for sure. Then I could do karaoke in my own private abode, singing to my heart’s content as long as the walls were laid with egg cartons for soundproofing.
Better yet I could buy a karaoke machine so I don’t have to sing-along with my favorite artists, thinking I’m singing so well when in fact my voice is floating at barely a whisper, and it’s really the original artist’s voice that’s on tune rather than mine, hahah! Did I already mention I can’t carry a tune???
My favorite song these days is Fancy by Iggy Azalea. Did you know she’s white and Australian? I was flabbergasted when I found out! I thought it was Nicki Minaj! That song is a rap by the way. So I definitely need to sing it on my own. LOL!
What’s your favorite song to karaoke?

Never thought I would someday take vitamin pills or omega 3 supplements but here I am, not getting any younger and I can feel that my body isn’t working as well as it used to. These days I find myself getting constipated even with fiber in my diet. It’s just not enough. My boyfriend the doctor recommended I take psyllium fiber supplements. I’ve taken them everyday (5-10 pills a day, 30 minutes before eating, drink lots of water!) and so far, so good. I can even go without eating vegetables but of course I won’t – I still need the vitamins from the veg. :)
On the upside, taking the psyllium capsules make me feel full. I imagine the powder absorbing all the water in my tummy like a sponge and bam! Wheatgrass in my belly. Heheh. So I don’t have to eat as much and my stomach won’t grumble painfully if I eat less.
So this is 30.

If you follow me on Twitter, don’t be surprised to see Dragonvale related messages on there.
I had to laugh when a friend of mine messaged the other day, telling me he thought I had been hacked. He even repeated one of my tweets regarding my dragons.
Well, the increase of dragon related posts is due to my newfound addiction to the tablet game -you guessed it!- Dragonvale.
It all started when HP recognized me as a “top” employee and rewarded me with an HP Slate 7. Lucky me. :) I wondered what I would do with it, since most things I needed to do I could do on my laptop. So I started downloading games. Lots and lots of games. I guess that’s what tablets are for!
I downloaded Dragonvale, which lets me breed and grow dragons, and I get gems everytime I post on Twitter about my dragons, gems which help me speed up the breeding and growing. So there. :)
