Plot: The story is about Hang Dong-Joo and Lee Da-Ji who are childhood friends. They married young, and divorced early. Six years pass, and Lee Da-Ji is living with her father and sister in their ranch and working as a veterinarian. She goes to Australia to buy a horse, and meets Seo Yoon-Ho who helps her. The guy works for a resort company and lives in America. While in Australia, she also bumps into her ex-husband, who now has a girlfriend Park Jin-Young.

Upon returning to her home, Lee Da-Ji faces eviction. Her ranch is now under her husband’s name, and her husband is planning to build a resort around her ranch. Seo Yoon-Ho is an investor of the ranch. What complicates things is that Yoon-Ho begins to have feelings for Da-Ji, but Da-Ji and Dong-Joo’s romance is far from over.

Plot: Kim Tae Hee plays Lee Seol, an Archeology student who is in love with her professor. She was adopted at the age of five and has a also-adopted sister. In a time when Korea is returning to monarchy power, she is discovered to be the missing princess by diplomat Park Hae Young, who is played by Song Seung Hun. He is the heir to Korea’s most powerful group. Chairman Park, Hae Young’s grandfather, initially became rich due to the money squandered from the royal family. Chairman Park announces his intention to return their family’s riches back to the princess, and assigns Hae Young to be Lee Seol’s teacher. Park Ye Jin plays Oh Yoon Ju, the head curator of the Hae Young Museum, and Park Hae Young’s fiance. Oh Yoon Ju is a social climber who will do everything to become Hae Young’s wife and inherit the Dae Han Group. At the same time, she courts the attentions of Nam Jung Woo, played by Ryu Soo Young, who is Lee Seol’s professor.

Athena Korean Drama

This is a new Korean drama which just began December 13th. It’s a spin-off of IRIS.

It’s set in the future, at a time when Korea is attempting reunification. To gather funds for the reunification, Korea develops the TWR – a high speed nuclear reactor – which raises the interest of other countries. To protect the country from terrorists, Korea establishes the National Security Agency, to which special agent Lee Jung Woo is transferred. He goes to Italy on a manhunt for certain North Korean terrorists, followed by Ki-Soo, a defector from North Korea. More agents join them and conspiracies arise.

A group that threatens the current power structure of the world rises. This group is led by Athena – the terror organization that puts the whole world in danger. Filming took place in Japan, Switzerland, Singapore, Italy, Hawaii and New Zealand.

The cast is led by Cha Seung Won, Choi Si Won, Lee Ji Ah, Soo Ae, Jung Woo Sung and Lee Bo Young, and began airing December 13, 2010. It airs on SBS, Mondays and Tuesdays at 21:55.

Haru is a one-episode web drama starring ten Hallyu stars Big Bang, TVXQ’s Yunho, Chae Young, Park Shi Hoo, Lee Dae Hae and Kim Bum. This webdrama is part of the 2010 Korea Tourism Organization Interactive Campaign Sight and features 6 stories. Haru means “day” in Korean, so all of the events that occur in this drama happen only in one day.

The story centers on Lee Dae Hae, and during this day of hers, she encounters the other characters.

He accidentally sets the Gumiho free, and in his terror, encounters a near-fatal accident. But the Gumiho decides to save him, and threatens to eat his liver if he does not buy her meat. And so begins this cute story of a human and the Gumiho who loves him.

Playful Kiss is the Korean remake of the Taiwanese drama It Started With a Kiss (sequel They Kiss Again), which in turn, is based on the Japanese manga Itazura na Kiss (イタズラなKiss) by mangaka Kaoru Tada.

The story is about a not-so-bright high school girl who falls in love with Mr Perfect, the smart, sporty, talented and super-brainy senior who rejects her overtures. However, disaster strikes and she has to move in with Mr Perfect. This is the story of how they sort out their feelings for each other and soon enough fall in love.

The male lead is played by Kim Hyun-Joong, of Boys Over Flowers fame. The female lead is not yet cast, but contenders are Park Shin-hye, Han Seung-yeon, and Sulli. Playful Kiss is directed by Hwang In-roi.

This Korean drama is still in the casting stage, so there are no episodes to show. But for sure, once there are, I’ll be putting up the links.

[Korean Drama Watch] Playful Kiss Stars Kim Hyun-joong

Playful Kiss is the Korean remake of the Taiwanese drama It Started With a Kiss (sequel They Kiss Again), which in turn, is based on the Japanese manga Itazura na Kiss (イタズラなKiss) by mangaka Kaoru Tada.

The story is about a high school girl who likes a senior who is handsome, talented and aloof. She confesses to him through a love letter, but he rejects her. Fatefully, an earthquake destroys the home she shares with her father. Her father’s college friend offers them a hand, and they move in to live with him. Coincidentally, the son is the senior she is in love with. And the rest is – well, the drama.

So, the latest news is that they’ve cast the male lead in Playul Kiss, and it’s gonna be… Kim Hyun-joong! Oh, you all know him. He last played the suffering soulful Yoon Ji Hoo in the Korean megahit Boys Over Flowers. He is also the lead vocalist of popular Korean boyband SS501.

Ji-hoo was my favorite character in BOF, just because he was sooo hot in his perfect white suits and violins. Hehehe. Acting-wise, I just hope he won’t be too emo. Ahhh, but it’s a kdrama, what do you expect?!

Kim Hyun-joong will be playing the character of Baek Seung-jo, the perfect boy who has got the smarts, the talent, the looks, everything. The female character is Moon Ha-ni, who’s clumsy and dumb, but against all odds, will fall into a romantic relationship with Baek Seung-jo. Although Moon Ha-ni has yet to be cast, it seems it will either be Park Shin-hye, Han Seung-yeon, or Sulli.

Playful Kiss will be directed by Hwang In-roi, who previously directed Goong and Return of Iljimae.

Online Streaming Shining Inheritance Episodes

Shining Inheritance is a Korean drama filmed in 2009. It is also known as 찬란한 유산 or Brilliant Legacy.

It stars Han Hyo Joo as Ko Eun-seong, the rich girl turned pauper overnight; Lee Seung Ki as Seon Woo-hwan, the arrogant heir to the Beef Soup empire he loathes; Moon Chae-won as Yoo Seung-mi, Eun-seong’s step sister who wants to marry Hwan; and Bae Soo-bin as Park Joon-se, Hwan’s cousin who secretly loves Eun-seong.

This drama rated highly in Korea, even besting Boys Over Flowers, which interested me enough to watch it. Currently, I am still downloading the first few episodes, so I will be posting short summaries over the next few days. So far, though, I’m quite surprised it rated so highly. It’s quite the drama – death, family, money, pride and honor – all kinds of hardships – it is actually very like a Filipino telenovela, in my opinion. So I am not loving it all that much as I prefer to be entertained by laughing not by being burdened by other people’s problems, even if fictitious.

Still, I’ve started, so I will finish this drama. I hope Shining Inheritance will lighten up in the next few eps.

You’re Handsome [Korean Drama]

Yes, I am still talking about You’re Beautiful, also known as 미남이시네요 / Minami Shineyo, soon to be broadcasting here in the Philippines. But since I don’t have a TV set, I went ahead and watched it online. I prefer watching the Korean dramas undubbed, anyway. It preserves the original feel of the series.

Anyway, I found more Minami Shineyo photos and I just wanted to share, because I still can’t forget them, so I’m dumping everything I find back to you. Hahaha!

You’re Beautiful [Korean Drama]

Also known as You’re Handsome or 미남이시네요 / Minami Shineyo, the Korean drama You’re Beautiful is a fangirl must-see. The plot is predictable, but there is no shortage of cuteness or laugh-out-loud moments in this dramedy, so I give it my two thumbs up! I laughed and cried all the way, perhaps even spurred on by the theme songs both beautiful and heartbreaking.

Don’t be fooled by the poster. This isn’t a fantasy-themed drama. It’s about a nun (Go Minyu) who is forced to impersonate her twin brother (Go Minam) in a boyband (A. N. Jell) because the brother is recovering from surgery. She looks and sings exactly like her brother, but her demeanor is very girlish and innocent, which makes the other boys wary and suspicious of her. The leader of the A. N. Jell (Tae Kyung) finds her out, but she begs him to keep her secret. Throughout the course of her stay, she causes lots of trouble for Tae Kyung but at the same time starts to crush on him…

Well, I won’t spoil the rest of the story for you, but you can probably tell how it’s going to end. It’s a very light and fun drama, and I watched in on Youtube for two days straight. LOL. And I still rewatch it over and over because I think Tae Kyung (Jang Geun Suk) is too cute, haha. But he should really get some meat on his frame! Still, I love the show because it made me laugh. Really!
