Tara Wheeler, a Miss America 2009 pageant contestant, is the Miss Virginia 2008 titleholder. She is 24 years old and is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in Journalism. Tara’s dream career is to work as a reporter or anchor in television.
Miss Virginia Tara Wheeler is committed to community service. She is the founder of “Positive Role Models Building Powerful Women” (Pos-Pow), a group created for instilling self-esteem and leadership skills in women.
And surprise, surprise — Wheeler is also a former Penn State women’s goalie! Talk about beauty, brains and brawn too!

Miss America 2009 has a winner and it is Miss Indiana Katie Stam. Katie is 22 years old, a University of Indianapolis student. She was sick during the Miss America 2009 pageant but she still managed to hit the ball out of the park during her performance of “Via Dolorosa.”
For the interview portion of Miss America, Miss Indiana Katie Stams spoke out against performance-enhancing drugs and pondered the meaning of glamour. On glamour, Katie commented: “That beauty that you feel on the inside, it’s that confidence, that radiance inside of you, that’s what glamour is.”
Miss California Jackie Geist is one of the finalists in the Miss America 2009 pageant. She is a Teen Image Award recipient. Her accomplishments include being a participant in Read Across America and being accepted to the Rock School of Pennsylvania Ballet, the Kirov Academy, the Joffrey Ballet and the Oregon Ballet Theater.
Miss America finalist Jackie Geist’s goal in life is to pursue a career as a financial planner. Her other titles include first runner up Miss California Teen USA 2003, third runner up Miss Teenage California 2004, and Miss Teen of the Nation 2004.
